Friendship

Today, I was searching the Denny Davis Site (http://www.dennydavis.net/) for sayings/poems and came across this one. I just love it so much so I had to post it today.

A true friend is one who
Knows you as you really are,
Understands where you've been,
Accepts who you've become,
And still gently invites you to grow.

This is just rang so true for me. I need to remember this poem and hope to be the same kind of good friend in return. I am definitely the kind of person who *needs* other people, especially to listen to my trials and tribulations. I need to be sure that I'm as good of a friend when the tables are turned.

Mini Golf!

Our family loves to play Putt Putt when we're in Myrtle Beach. There are a bazillion miniature golf courses in the MB area and we played twice this past trip. I took a bunch of pictures, of course, and here are a few of them. :) :) :)

You're Gonna Miss This

This song is by Trace Adkins. I'd heard it a few times, but this morning I heard it on CMT and this one section really "got to me". How true?! I'd take back those years when the boys were little and things were a *lot* more hectic around here. It's so hard for me to watch them grow up so fast. I never thought I was such a melancholy person until I became a mother. Here are the lyrics that really touched me....

"Five years later there's a plummer workin' on the water heater, Dogs barkin' phones ringin' one kid's cryin' one kid's screamin', And she keeps apologizing, he says they don't bother me I got 2 babies of my own one's 36 one's 23 it's hard to believe

But you're gonna miss thisYou're gonna want this backYou're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fastThese are some good times so take a good look aroundYou may not know it nowBut you're gonna miss thisYou're gonna miss thisYeah, you're gonna miss this"

Outside Pictures from Myrtle Beach

Are you sick of seeing my MB pics yet? Well too bad. LOL.

Here are some outside pictures of the boys. Seeing these pictures makes me yearn for spring even more. ** sigh **

Spring Please Come Soon!

I know that March 21st is the official date, but here in the Northeast, Spring doesn't really start to show up for awhile. I have a few Crocus' popping up and a few perennials are showing life, but it's otherwise dreary out there. All of the Bradford pears are in bloom down in Myrtle Beach, but as you can see here, ours only has a few buds on it. I'm honestly just sick of winter and really want spring to come. I didn't think I'd want to get out into the gardens and work since we might move, but I always look forward to this time of year when everything comes alive again. It will be nice to see all of my flowers/plants come back again for what could be the very last time (even though I plan on cutting a few and digging out a few to take with me. LOL). Anyway, I just had to get that out and say that Spring needs to show up here soon. Pretty please!

Cleo's Myrtle Beach Pics

Of course, I had some photo opps with Cleo while at the Beach. She just loves it down there and is "around" more often, so I have to snap pictures of her.

Happy Easter!

Well we're back from the beach and I've got tons of pictures. In this post, I'm just going to put up anything Easter Related. I'll do another few posts in the next couple of days with more Beach pics. :)

Just hit Wally World...

to stock up for the trip. We leave tonight. WOO HOO.

Did you all know how freaking much money Easter candy is? I think I spent $50 on candy. I should have bought new toothbrushes and toothpaste, too, huh? I bought 4 different types of Reese's stuff. yum!

I'm not going to want to weigh in once I get back from this trip. I mean I could go jog on the beach or run around my neighborhood down there or I could just eat, drink and be merry. Which would you chose? bwahahahahahahahaha

And can we just discuss how I need my fix of sweet tea? Real sweet southern tea. I can't wait until we hit that mark in Virginia where they start to have real sweet tea in restaurants. I'll gain 5 lbs. just from the tea. ;-)

And let's talk priorities... I just called my dad to ask him to tape LOST for tonight. I bought new VCR tapes today so that I can tape stuff next week and try to watch a few shows to keep up. I can't lose 9 whole days of "my shows". Nuh uh. I'll go into withdrawal. I already have to do without the internet until 3/24, can't take away my TV shows, too. I know, stop thinking it.... I need DVR or Tivo! Could someone please convince Jim that this is a necessity in my life? Pretty please?

Alright, I'm supposed to go try to nap now so that I can do as much of the driving tonight as I can. I *hate* to drive in the dark, but I'm a trooper. Bring on the tunes and I can drive drive drive. We'll be there before we know it. I'm signing off 'til I get back. Happy Birthday to me tomorrow and I hope you all have a very Happy Easter!

Getting ready for the Beach!

Well we leave tomorrow for Myrtle Beach, so today I'm doing laundry and getting us packed. I'm finally starting to get excited, which is partly because I feel a little bit better today. I cannot wait for warm sun, going to the beach, going to our favorite places, seeing family, being at our beach house, going to the pool (even if it's just the indoor pool), etc... Once we get in that car tomorrow around 4:30pm, we'll be cruising and on our way. Bring on the tunes. Which reminds me, I need to hit iTunes today and buy a few new songs.

2nd week of March....

I'm feeling a little frazzled. First off, I'm sick with a yucky head cold that I wish would just go away. Then, I'm starting to feel the pressure of having to get ready to go away. We're leaving for Myrtle Beach on Thursday night after Jim gets home from work. I usually hate driving at night, but I'd rather drive on Thursday than drive on Friday (my birthday). Who wants to spend their birthday in the car? No thanks. lol. I need some warm weather, so I really hope the weather in S.C. is, at least, in the 60s and up the whole time we're down there. How did it get to be March 10th already? Time really does fly. Meanwhile, I have to start a "to do" list for this week so that I don't forget to do anything. I think I need to stay off the phone this week so that I actually accomplish what I set out to do! lol. I already stopped the newspaper for two weekends, so I can check that off my list.
With all that said, I think I'm going to make my "to do" list, then turn my brain off for today and scrap. I'm participating in an online scrap for ScrapHappy and I've been trucking all weekend long. I'm going to afford myself this one more day to scrap and then I probably won't touch my stuff for 2-3 weeks (since we'll be away and all). Our Disney album is coming along great - I'm on day #4 already - probably halfway through. Yay!

Sitting Pretty!

Yesterday, our kitty Cleo was just sitting on the end table looking out the window and she looked picture perfect. It was a great photo opportunity, so I had to snap a few. This was one of my favorites. I couldn't get a good facial shot of her looking out the window. oh well.

Haircuts!

I wish I could say that I remembered to take before pictures, but I didn't! The boys were super shaggy, so the difference is amazing. They have school pics tomorrow and Easter is coming, so it was high time for a nice hair cut! Aren't they cute? :)

Island GetAway!

I want to go back to Bermuda really badly. We will probably postpone our trip there this spring, though, because of the possible move to NC. But I can look at pictures and dream about it, right? Bermuda is just such a wonderful island and we have so many awesome memories from our 2002 trip. We are creatures of habit, so we'll go back to Bermuda before we'd try another island out. Can't wait to go on a moped again & see the clear blue water.

Introducing, my Poppit iPod.

We had a photo challenge on ScrapFreak to take a picture of a gift, so I took this shot of my iPod and my logitech deck. I had to name it when I first registered it online, so it's name is Poppit as in 'ello poppit (pirate talk). I have 664 songs on this thing and I use it everywhere. I even have tons of Christmas songs on it.
I don't know what I did before I had an iPod - maybe used the CD player more often? I love to use it in the car, when I walk on the treadmill, when I mow the lawn, when we're hanging out in the kitchen, while I am doing chores (I just carry it around the house if the LogiTech deck is all charged up), etc... I love having so much music all in one place!

Wow, it's March.....

How did it get to be March? My birthday is in less than two weeks and we leave for Myrtle Beach that day. We'll stay through Easter. I need to start thinking about Easter, getting ready for the trip, writing the letters to the school that the boys will need to get out of school for 3 days, dotting my i's and crossing my t's, etc... SIGH! I hope the weather starts to improve. I could deal with one more snow storm, but now I'm ready for warmer weather & spring.

Going to The Quiet Man Tonight!

We're going out to our favorite restaurant/Irish Pub tonight. We started going here a few years ago with our good friends, Mike & Pam, and now it's a tradition to meet them there a few times a year. It's definitely something we'll miss a lot when/if we move to NC.

Our favorite thing to get is the Whiskey Steak and it's sometimes funny because all four of us will order the same exact thing. We get the baked brie w/fruit to start (my mouth is watering already). Then the Whiskey steak, with their homemade scalloped potatoes. Yum! I usually drink wine at the bar before dinner and then during dinner, but then afterwards I usually get Baileys on the rocks or Baileys in my coffee. Jim, Mike & Pam will often get Irish Coffee, but I prefer the Baileys.

We'll be leaving the boys with Jim's dad & stepmom for the night, which always makes the evening so nice. We take our time and usually end up there for like 3 hours. Bar before dinner, then dinner, then sitting at the bar after dinner. Mike & Pam are just such great company, too. We'll have lots to catch up on tonight, also. We can even celebrate my bday which is two weeks from yesterday (March 14th).

Here's a site with a review of The Quiet Man. http://www.artfuldiner.com/quietman.html Also, just a little trivia... this restaurant was named after a John Wayne Movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045061/ I finally saw this movie on AMC about 6 months ago and the chemistry between John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara is just so spunky & fun. Maureen O'Hara actually visited the restaurant, so they have pictures of her up on the wall along with a bunch of pictures of the actual movie.
Now, I have to go figure out what to wear!
